LEAVING WELL

Comfort, Guidance, Advocacy

Steady support when it’s most needed

Highly personal in-home support, care navigation, advocacy and family coordination from changing health through the final days.

You remain at the heart of every decision.

A calm, familiar presence bringing comfort, clear guidance, thoughtful advocacy and support for the whole family as health changes and the end of life approaches.

TALK WITH KERSTIN

Calm, clarity and comfort as things change.

When health changes, life can suddenly fill with unfamiliar people, new information and decisions you never expected to make. It can be difficult to know what matters now or what the next step should be.

I will take time to know you, what brings comfort, who matters, what feels like home and how you want to keep living.

I can help you understand the choices being discussed, prepare for appointments and difficult conversations, communicate your wishes and ensure the people around you continue to listen.

When something does not feel right, I will help you find the words, ask the questions and advocate for what matters.

You can remain yourself within all of it, with someone beside you who knows the story and helps carry what feels heavy.

·      Continuity into after-death and funeral care

My role sits alongside medical and palliative care. I can help you prepare questions, understand information and communicate your wishes; I do not diagnose, prescribe or replace clinical care.

Home death

Death belongs within life.

I believe dying is not simply a medical event. It is a deeply human passage, one that can hold tenderness, honesty, connection and extraordinary beauty.

My experience supporting people to die at home has shown me what becomes possible when death is not hidden away or treated only as something to fear.

With the right clinical, practical and personal support, a person may be able to remain surrounded by the people, animals, belongings, sounds and familiar rhythms of their own life.

Families can be included rather than kept at a distance. They can understand what is happening, participate in ways that feel right, express what needs to be said and create memories that remain meaningful long after the death.

It is an honour to be welcomed into this space.

The first hours

There can be time.

When someone dies at home, families may not realise that there can be time.

Time to let the room become quiet. Time to sit beside the person. Time for children, relatives and pets to come close if that feels right. Time to say what still needs to be said and allow the reality of the death to settle gently.

When chosen by the family and appropriate to the circumstances, after-death care may become a final expression of love.

Washing a face, brushing hair, choosing clothes, placing flowers or wrapping the person in a meaningful blanket can return tenderness and humanness to a moment that is often hurried into professional hands.

I can guide these moments quietly and respectfully, explaining what is happening, offering choices and helping family members participate only as much as they wish.

There is never pressure to see, touch or take part.

Mortuary continuity

The person you love remains a person.

As a Funeral Director and Mortuary Assistant with Lady Rose Funerals, I can explain what happens next with honesty and gentleness, and help the transition feel calm, personal and respectful.

I can support a gentle transition into the care of trusted funeral and mortuary professionals, helping ensure that the person’s identity, wishes and the details that matter to their family remain understood.

When Lady Rose Funerals is the chosen funeral provider, my role there allows me to remain a familiar point of support from the home into the care of the funeral team, helping preserve continuity, dignity and the details your family wants understood.

The relationship and understanding we have already built can continue into the next stage of care.

Beliefs and spirituality

Whatever you believe, you are welcome here.

My approach is holistic, recognising that dying affects far more than the body. It can touch identity, relationships, emotion, spirituality, family history and the questions a person carries about life, death and what may come next.

I bring my own intuitive and spiritual understanding to this work, but I do not impose a particular belief or way of dying.

I am comfortable supporting people across different faiths, spiritual beliefs, cultural traditions and secular worldviews. I listen for the language and meaning that feel true to you.

For some people this may involve prayer, ritual, music or conversation about crossing over. For others it may mean nature, silence, familiar objects, humour or simply being surrounded by love.

There is no single right way to leave this life.

Extended support and collaboration

Trusted collaboration when more support is needed.

Leaving Well is personally led by Kerstin, but meaningful end-of-life care is never about working in isolation.

At times, I work collaboratively with Patsy Bingham and End of Life Angels, a respected Southern Highlands end-of-life doula service. This allows us to bring together trusted experience, additional support and continuity when a person or family needs more than one pair of hands.

Any collaboration will be discussed openly with you. You will always know who is involved, why they are involved and how your support will be coordinated.
